Have you found yourself not knowing what you want in life, or have no idea what lights you up anymore?
Perhaps someone asked you a question similar to “what do you want in life?” and you found yourself completely lost for words or you wanted to punch them or run away and curl into the foetal position.
Perhaps you have reached a stage in your life and have realised you aren’t living the life you want but are struggling to figure out exactly what you do want.
Maybe you feel numb, lost, or in despair about what you should be doing. You’ve lost your mojo, motivation or care factor…
Firstly, it’s okay! Everyone experiences this stage of not knowing at some point in their lives. In fact, it doesn’t necessarily only happen once. It can happen several times in your lifetime.
We all go through different stages in our life, whether they are life stages or awakening stages. Through these natural changes in our thinking, our feelings, our behaviours and beliefs we are establishing a new baseline of our existence.
We start to compare what is, to what was, and what we want now or in the future. It is a constant cycle of transformation we go through in life. Sometimes these transformational stages happen as a natural occurrence to the collective conscious growth changes, other times it is forced upon us through our own development, or through circumstances and events in our life.
If you are struggling to answer the question “What do I want in life?” Try this instead.
Firstly, try not to beat yourself up about it, some parts of our journey require us to lean into trust and faith and the practice of not knowing. Just because it hasn’t revealed itself to you at this time, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, or you won’t uncover it.
Instead of searching around and trying to find what you do want, find out what you don’t want and be true to that. Try moving away from what you don’t want in your life, instead of always trying to move towards what you do want in your life. Knowing what you don’t want and starting to live your life in accordance to that, being true to that, may open a pathway that eventually leads you to what you do want.
Don’t be afraid to let go of all the things that no longer serve you.
If it doesn’t make you happy, doesn’t light you up, feels heavy or doesn’t feel in alignment to your true self, then let it go. The more you remove from your life; the more space is created to welcome in new things and to create more alignment to what you truly want in your life.
